Dr. Adenike Patience Odiboh is a scholar of French Literature with a career spanning teaching, research, and academic service. She earned her B.A. in French (2002), M.A. in French Literature (2012) and Ph.D. in French Literature (2024) from the University of Benin. She also holds a National Certificate in Education (1993) from the Federal College of Education, Okene and professional training certificates in administration and French language teaching.
She began her professional career with the Kogi State Teaching Service Commission (1994–2003) before joining the University of Benin Demonstration Secondary School, where she taught from 2009 to 2018. In 2018, she was re-designated to the Department of Foreign Languages, University of Benin, where she rose through the ranks and currently serves as Senior Lecturer.
Her teaching covers courses in French composition, conversation, literature and African literature in French. She has presented papers at several national and international conferences and participated in professional workshops in French language pedagogy.
Dr. Odiboh has published extensively, with works appearing in local, national, and international journals. Her research interests include French and Francophone literature, autobiography and autofiction, curriculum development and second-language acquisition.
She is an active member of professional bodies such as the University French Teachers’ Association of Nigeria (UFTAN) and the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN). Within the University of Benin, she has served on various committees, including conference organizing committees, faculty examinations misconduct panels and environment and sanitation committees.
Through her teaching, publications and service, Dr. Odiboh continues to contribute to the growth of French studies in Nigeria and to the training of the next generation of scholars and educators.
